theory & a nail was born in 2011 in Providence, RI, when some queers were too anal about style & layout to run off copies of someone else’s zine design where the margins looked bad.
Our main goal is to cultivate a community of radical queers. By exposing youth to queer desires and radical ideas in the form of printed matter, we seek to recruit innocent straight-laced teens for the queer cause, to make otherwise homonormative LGBTQ youth more radical & empowered & deviant, and to grow radical queer and trans cultures in Providence.
We hope in the future to produce & distribute original works, but for now we’re just doing some reformatting and lots of printing of other folks’ work. Please email us if you’d like us to stop distributing something you wrote.
